Sutton & Associates
Welcome to Sutton & Associates, LLC - Frequently Asked Questions

How is Sutton & Associates compensated for services?

We are a fee-only Investment Adviser. This means that all of our revenue comes from fees that we charge our Clients for managing their accounts. We receive no commissions or any type of payment from any third parties including broker-dealers, issuers or insurance companies. Our fee structure may be found in our Brochure, available in PDF by clicking here.

Why is it important to work with a fee-only Advisor?

Simply put, you work for who pays you. By limiting our compensation to fees paid by our Clients, we eliminate the possibility of moral hazard and demonstrate to our Clients that we work for them and only them.

What is your investment experience?

Mr. Sutton has managed money privately for the past 3 years and developed cutting-edge strategies for avoiding not only the subprime housing crisis, but the severe downturn in the financial economy as well. With both undergraduate and graduate education in Business and honors in Economics along with a wealth of experience in both the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and Information Service industries, Mr. Sutton has solid experience in analyzing diverse investment opportunities. Mr. Sutton has authored the weekly economic and market commentary 'My Two Cents' since early 2006. Many of his strategies have been outlined in these essays and time has demonstrated their validity. Are there hidden fees?

There are no hidden fees of any kind when you work with Sutton & Associates, LLC. We get paid by one source, you. We don't make a penny outside of the fees from our clients and we're happy with that. It's the right thing to do. We operate under the time proven premise that if we treat our customers right that they will repay us with the ultimate compliment; a referral. We are a small firm and believe in treating people properly, and with respect. We wouldn't have it any other way. Our advisory Clients receive an invoice each quarter that shows in detail how their fees were calculated. Every penny is accounted for.

Do we meet in person?

If at all possible, yes. We realize that for some out of area clients, this may prove to be impractical, but whenever possible we do want to meet you in person and get to know you. In any case, we have each prospective Client fill out some brief questionaires so that we may guage their risk tolerance and get to know them.

What types of Accounts can you manage?

Sutton & Associates, LLC can offer our services to individuals, businesses, joint accounts, family accounts, trusts, UGMA/UTMAs, IRAs, and Coverdell ESA plans. If you desire an account type that you don't see here, please contact us and we'll do everything possible to assist you.

Are there any account minimums?

We do have a $5,000 minimum to retain our investment advisory services. Under certain circumstances we are able to work with accounts that are below that threshold. If you are below the minimum, contact us and we can discuss your situation.

Will you be personally holding my money/assets?

We do not hold any money or securites. We use a qualified Custodian to handle all accounts and to hold money and securities. You fund your account by writing a check or electronically transferring money from your bank account. You have constant access to your account via the Internet and telephone. When you need money from your account, that request is funded by the Custodian. While your account is active, you may elect to have Sutton Associates make trades on your behalf (with written authorization), and you may elect to have management fees deducted directly from your account (also requires written authorization).
